Other Learning Experiences / Activities

Robotics

Robotics is a branch of Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering and Computer Science that deals with design, construction, operation and application of robots, as well as computer systems of their control, sensory feedback and information processing.
This activity in school is to enhance the knowledge domain of students. Special effort is being taken to incorporate the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programme used in US school education to cater to the needs of the participants. Students would be supplied with material to work in the school and have hands on experience in this branch of science under the guidance of specialists.

Taekwondo

At GCIS, our students are given the opportunity to take Taekwondo classes to equip themselves. It is the art of self defense that originated in Korea. It is recognized as one of the oldest forms of martial arts in the world, reaching back over 2,000 years. The name was selected for its appropriate description of the art: Tae (foot), Kwon  (hand), Do  (art). This art stresses on self-discipline and a high code of personal conduct. Taekwondo training is well-rounded and involves learning blocks, punches, open-handed strikes, take-downs, throws, and joint locks.

Classical Music

Music improves learning, encourages creativity and team work, adds to self-worth, enriches a person for life and musical training helps develop language and reasoning.

"Music education opens doors that help children pass from school into the world around them — a world of work, culture, intellectual activity, and human involvement. The future of our nation depends on providing our children with a complete education that includes music.” Says Gerald Ford, former President, United States of America. School education has always been perceived as the study of the three R’s-Reading, Writing and Arithmetic, along with History and Science. Researches have proved that schools which include weekly music instrument lessons, choir rehearsals, voice training, or general music classes help their students reap a wide range of benefits in different areas, from improving learning to building self-esteem.

At GCIS, we understand the benefits of music education and music classes are incorporated in the curriculum.
